Installing SharePoint and Project Server in Win 2k8 R2

You need to slipstream Sp2 files into the original package using extract command.
1. Unzip the contents of the Sharepoint 2007 installation package in a folder eg c:\SPwSP1
2. Unzip the contents of the Sharepoint 2007 Sp2 files into C:\SpwSp1\Updates folder.
3. OVerwrite the files if they are already there.
3. Now run the setup in c:\SpwSp1 folder it runs without any complaint.

From MS site – To work around this issue, use one of the following methods

New Installations

  • Option 1: Create a slipstream that contains Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Service Pack 2 or later versions. Use that slipstream to install the product that generated the error. For more information about how to create a slipstream, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Upgrade

  • Option 1: Upgrade to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Service Pack 2. Then, install Windows Server 2008 R2. For more information about how to deploy software updates for the products in the "applies to" section, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

  • Option 2: Uninstall the product in the "applies to" section. Then, install Windows Server 2008 R2. Finally, install the product by using Option 1 for New Installations listed above.
